NFL Draft insider suggests at least two teams could sign Georgia draft pick Carson Beck

Bias aside, Carson Beck should already be on a shortlist of candidates who could realistically be selected No. 1 in the 2025 NFL Draft. Beck is the most talented quarterback to play at Georgia since Matthew Stafford, who went No. 1 to the Detroit Lions in 2009. While other players could be top picks next spring, the question is which teams would want Beck high in the draft.

At the performance on NFL LiveESPN NFL Draft insider Matt Miller mentioned that the few teams that could go higher in the draft already have young quarterbacks. New England has Drake Maye, Denver has Bo Nix, and Carolina has Bryce Young. We could be looking at a team like the Tennessee Titans, or possibly a handful of teams that might have to trade up for him.

Miller mentioned that the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Giants could be the best candidates for a transfer.

“It has to be Carson Beck from Georgia. Interestingly, according to FPI, four of those teams have young quarterbacks. So I think next year maybe a team like the New York Giants or the Las Vegas Raiders will try to move up to get Carson Beck, who is the best quarterback in his class right now.”

Miller mentioned that Beck has improved over many seasons in his first year as a starter.

“We saw him play a little bit in 2022. Four touchdowns, no interceptions. Last year, when he replaced Stetson Bennett as the starter, he was really hot – 24 touchdowns with only six interceptions.”

Now let's discuss whether the Giants or the Raiders are the right teams for a possible trade for Beck.

Of the two situations, the Raiders are by far the better option than the Giants. That's because none of the Raiders' big-name quarterbacks have the label of being franchise players. As much as I like the games of Gardner Minshew II and Aidan O'Connell, the Raiders would part with either of them in a heartbeat to move on with Beck. Considering Brock Bowers is now playing for the Raiders, that's it.

As for the Giants, there is still a glimmer of hope that Daniel Jones can be the right fit. New York had a great season two years ago, but Brian Daboll needs to be smart about this. He may not have a great quarterback situation this season, but how he handles Jones and Drew Lock will go a long way for the Giants' leadership and possibly give him the confidence to build Beck up as a pro. That remains to be seen.

Overall, I think Beck and Texas' Quinn Ewers are the most likely first-round picks next year. To all of you clamoring for Shedeur Sanders, what do you do on Saturdays besides watch college football? Beck may be the star of my alma mater, but I respect Ewers' massive right arm. I just wish the guy didn't get injured every year. So it has to be Beck.

A move from Beck to Silver and Black would be epic, but a move to the G-Men could be the deciding factor.
