The Los Angeles Lakers' search for a new coach has finally come to an end with the reported hiring of JJ Redick, a former player and media star who just commentated on the NBA Finals for ESPN.

Redick was the early favorite in the Lakers' search before they made a surprise hire of UConn head coach Dan Hurley. When they failed to land Hurley, LA turned back to Redick, and he reportedly impressed in the interview.

Of course, hiring someone with no coaching experience is a big risk, especially for a team that has immediate championship aspirations. But the Lakers are betting that Redick will be able to make the adjustment once he has a strong coaching staff around him.

Redick reportedly wanted to be a coach and is said to be an extremely hard worker who will take this opportunity seriously. Not everyone gets the chance to coach LeBron James and Anthony Davis as their first job in a historic organization like the Lakers, so Redick will want to make the most of it to prove that LA's leadership made the right decision.

Regardless, after Darvin Ham's tenure as head coach, which saw numerous disagreements with players, Redick needs their approval to succeed, and he already seems to have it, with Austin Reaves specifically calling him a basketball genius.

But since the Lakers took so long to find a coach before deciding on Redick, they need to get the ball rolling. Not only does he have to put together a coaching staff, but the NBA Draft is Wednesday and Thursday, free agency is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, and Summer League begins the following week.

The Lakers have a lot of important decisions to make in the next week and Redick will certainly have some influence in putting together the roster and coaching staff.

With that in mind, the Lakers have scheduled a press conference for Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. PT at the UCLA Health Training Center, presumably to introduce Redick as the franchise's next head coach.

Where can you watch JJ Redick's Lakers introductory press conference?

JJ Redick's press conference will be streamed live on the Lakers' YouTube page as well as on Spectrum SportsNet and their app.

There will likely be a lot of questions for Redick and Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka, who hasn't spoken to the media in months.
