Fast food fans were stunned by a posh McDonald's in a stunning mansion.

Dating back to 1795, it once served as a farmhouse for a descendant of one of the founders of the town of Hempstead, New York. Today, it is one of the fanciest McDonald's restaurants in the world.

The Long Island, New York, mansion was used as a funeral home before being converted into a restaurant. It has shuttered windows and brick chimneys — and looks like a gingerbread house from a fairy tale.

North Hempstead residents were keen to preserve the historic structure of the beautiful home when McDonald's purchased the building in the 1980s. The fast-food chain agreed to restore it while opening a restaurant in it. Now the New Hyde Park building – dubbed the “McMansion” – features a grand staircase, chic tables and chairs, glamorous seating areas and a glass-enclosed sunroom.

US social media influencer and editor-in-chief of Average Socialite, Sharm Sil, known on TikTok as @sharmedlife, recently shared an insight into the eatery, saying: “Have you been to the most beautiful McDonald's in the world?”

“This two-story restaurant called the 'McMansion' is a house in a historic landmark in New Hyde Park, NY!”

Responding to the same clip on Instagram, a woman shared that she lived in the property when it was still used as a residence. She said: “This was my childhood home in the 1950s when my grandparents owned a restaurant called Luigi's.”

Another person said: “I live very close by. It's been there forever so I assume a lot of people don't know about this McDonald's.” Another commented: “This is really nice McD's. I love Filet-o-Fish and could see myself enjoying one here. Absolutely delicious!”
