Tiffany Haddish talks about her arrest in Beverly Hills: “The most beautiful police station I’ve ever been to”

Remember Eddie Murphy in the first Beverly Hills Cop when he first came into the police station and said how nice it was? Well, Tiffany Haddish is chatting about her experience at the station on 90210. Let's start from the beginning… During her June 12 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the comedian explained that after a long day of Thanksgiving that included handing out food to the homeless, exercising and preparing collard greens, she celebrated with her family before taking the leftovers to a “rich friend” who fired his cook.

“I learned a valuable lesson. I should have sent it with an Uber or sent someone else there, but I wanted to take it there myself because I felt there was [an] opportunity to talk business, so I went in and had a drink. I was very tired,” Haddish said.

Explaining how her Tesla's autonomous driving feature works, Haddish said, “If you get drowsy or your eyes are closed too long or your head is bobbing back and forth or you're not moving or something, the system will stop and park the car so that help can be called because it thinks maybe you've had a seizure or died or something like that.” She humorously added, “I'm not sure if that's true, but from what I've read and from my trial, it's true.”

Listen, Haddish was taken to jail after blowing 0.03 when police approached her. Reflecting on the experience, she said, “I'll tell you right now, if I ever commit a crime in my life, if I decide to commit one, it's only going to be in Beverly Hills. I'm sorry, Beverly Hills. I have to tell him. The most beautiful police station I've ever been in in my life.”

Haddish described the Beverly Hills Jail as a prison with clean restrooms, respectful officers and sparkling water from the sink. Although she began menstruating during her detention and found the toilet paper inadequate, Haddish praised the availability of a call button and the “biggest” maxi pad she had ever seen, which she described as “so comfortable, so fluffy.”

Now, things are different and more sober… In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Haddish spoke about her abstinence, saying, “Well, first of all, I don't have any cravings,” referring to alcohol. She always has candy on hand to quell any cravings for a drink, saying, “I always have a little piece of candy, a Jolly Rancher or something. I just drink a ginger beer and put a little cranberry juice in it. Hey, she's good to go.”

Haddish also released a collection of essays called “I Curse You With Joy” and a new pop single called “Woman Up.”
