Lincoln Parish authorities arrest suspect in Pecan Street shooting

RUSTON, Louisiana. (KTVE/KARD) — On June 15, 2024, officers with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office were called to a shooting on Pecan Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they found 38-year-old Cedric Williams of Ruston, Louisiana, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

According to officials, Williams was taken to a nearby hospital and authorities obtained a search warrant for a home on Pecan Street. After authorities executed the warrant, Dentavius ​​Wright was identified as a suspect and taken into custody.

Wright was taken to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center where he was arrested on the following charges:

  • Attempted second degree murder
  • Illegal use of weapons
  • Possession of a firearm by persons convicted of certain crimes
  • Three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute
  • Three cases of violations of the uniform rules for handling dangerous substances

Wright's bail was set at $1,030,000. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
