15th victim of a serial killer | Brawl at LAX | Fire disaster continues

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – As the weekend winds down, we’ve rounded up some of the stories you may have missed on Saturday and Sunday in preparation for Monday.

But before we dive into the most important stories from Southern California: According to the National Weather Service, gusty winds are expected to continue on Monday, bringing increased fire danger and hot, dry weather to much of Southern California.

It is a weather phenomenon that began over the weekend and has already caused several fires throughout the region.

The largest fire, the Post Fire in the Grapevine area, destroyed more than 5,900 acres in northwest Los Angeles County on Sunday and sent plumes of smoke as far south as San Diego.

According to authorities, the fire was only two percent contained by Sunday morning.

Other smaller fires raged near the Hollywood Bowl, closing an on-ramp to Freeway 101, as well as in Antelope Valley, Hespiria, Moreno Valley and the mountains of San Diego County.

A man accused of murdering 14 women in Los Angeles over a ten-year period has been charged with the murder of another woman in Utah, authorities said.

Chester Turner, 57, once considered the city's most prolific serial killer, is accused of murdering Itisha Camp, who was found strangled in Utah's capital in 1998. Authorities were able to link the woman's murder to Turner through DNA evidence.

Also, a dead mountain lion was found on the 101 Freeway on Saturday. The animal's body was found not far from the wildlife crossing under construction, an ambitious project aimed at reducing cougar deaths and reconnecting lion populations separated by the Southland's extensive road network.
