Jayson Tatum's viral quote before Boston Celtics Game 5

On Friday night, Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics played against the Dallas Mavericks in game four of the NBA Finals in Texas.

The Celtics had a chance to win the 2024 NBA championship, but lost 122-84.

Tatum finished the game with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks while shooting 4/10 from the field and 1/4 from three-point range in 27 minutes of play.

The Celtics will now host Game 5 again in Boston on Monday night.

After Game 4, Tatum met with the media and one of his quotes attracted a lot of attention (h/t Celtics on NBC Sports Boston).

Reporter: “What do you expect from the Garden? What would it mean to you to win on home soil tonight?”

Tatum: “I think it will be louder than ever in my seven years as a Celtic. I'm looking forward to coming home. On Sunday I'll celebrate Father's Day and on Monday I'll fight for the championship.”

The Celtics lead the series 3-1 and had won the first three games before suffering a heavy defeat on Friday.

Tatum is playing his seventh year in the league (all with Boston) and is in the NBA Finals for the second time.

He finished the regular season averaging 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 47.1% from the field and 37.6% from three-point range in 74 games.
