New Delhi: Video footage of a shocking broad daylight robbery in El Camino Real, California, is making the rounds on social media platforms. The video footage shows a brazen robbery on June 12, in which nearly 20 suspects dressed in black entered a branch of PNG Jewelers based in Pune, India. Armed with hammers and tools, they smashed glass counters, broke display cases and stole valuable jewelry from the store.

If reports are to be believed, the incident occurred at around 1:30 p.m. at the Hacienda Shopping Center on E. El Camino Real. The suspects forced their way into the jewelry store with sledgehammers and tools, stole valuables, and then quickly fled in several vehicles, evading police who arrived shortly after 1:27 p.m.

In a press release, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety stated that it responded immediately to the reported robbery at PNG Jewelers. It located two suspicious vehicles traveling north on U.S. Highway 101. During the pursuit, stolen jewelry was thrown from a vehicle that was later found parked near Whipple Avenue in Redwood City. Five suspects fled to an industrial area and were arrested near San Carlos. This incident is the second robbery of an Indian jewelry store in recent weeks, following a similar incident at Bhindi Jewelers in Newark.

Saurabh Gadgil, Chairman and Managing Director of PNG Jewellers, confirmed the incident and said, “I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the overwhelming care and concern you have shown us regarding the events that occurred at our Sunnyvale, California store the day before yesterday. Yes, there was indeed an armed robbery and this is the fourth such incident in the last six weeks at an Indian jeweller in the Bay Area of the US. I am relieved to report that all our employees are unharmed and safe. Five suspects have been arrested and investigations are ongoing.
