Arrest made in connection with fatal shooting of Lawrence teenager

LAWRENCE, Kansas (KSNT) – Lawrence police arrested a suspect after a local teenager was shot and killed earlier this week.

Lawrence police announced on social media on June 14 that they had arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Isaiah Neal. Police received a tip that led to the 18-year-old's arrest on a charge of first-degree murder. The man turned himself in to Miami County police without incident.

Lawrence police were called to the 2400 block of Alabama Street around 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, for reports of firearms. Officers arriving at the scene found a teenager with multiple gunshot wounds and began life-saving measures until emergency responders arrived.

Lawrence police began searching the scene while witnesses and family members gathered after the shooting. The 17-year-old shooting victim was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim was later identified as Neal.
