Man killed in drive-by shooting in southwest Miami-Dade neighborhood – NBC 6 South Florida

Police are investigating a drive-by shooting in a southwest Miami-Dade neighborhood that left one man dead Thursday afternoon.

The shooting happened in the 11300 block of Southwest 216th Street around 2 p.m.

Miami-Dade Police officials said officers responded to the area after receiving a gunshot detection alert from ShotSpotter and found a man with gunshot wounds.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. His identity has not been released.

Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed a large police presence at the scene and the man's body covered with a yellow tarp next to a silver SUV.

People who appeared to be friends or family members were very emotional and shed tears as they left the scene.

Officers with rifles and tactical gear were later seen heading into a nearby apartment complex.

One person was seen being taken into custody, but it was unknown if that person was connected to the shooting.

Police said they believe the man was the victim of a drive-by shooting, but said they had no information about a vehicle or suspects.

“You took a good man with you, you just have to know that. This man was a hard-working man who washed cars for his family every day,” said a neighbor who declined to be identified. “You have to stop. The violence must stop.”

The shooting is still under investigation.
